What role does music play in your life?
Some people might already know that it plays a pretty big role in my life, I have it on in the back ground a lot. A song will speak to me with either just the melody or the words. I currently use Spotify and Last.fm and I have included a little view into some of my listening habits below by sharing with you one of my play lists.
I also have a wide range of tastes from classic rock to dub-step. I listen to a little bit of everything depending on my mood and its changed over the years. When my husband got sober we stopped listening to a lot of country. Why? Well, almost every song is about drinking, so we don’t have time for that in our lives. I like a lot of Indy stuff or things not so “main stream” not sure if that makes me a “hipster” or not, but I don’t care 🙂 I listen to what I want, when I want and sometimes (like when in my car) as loud as I want.
I have a 16gb Flash drive in my car and well – Hubby and I don’t always agree on music, but he does both love and tease me for having such a wide listening range of music. We were at a car show recently and every song that the DJ played, my husband would tease me by saying “I am sure that is on your iPod” and it was. What started as a joke turned out to be a fun little game for us that helped pass some time while we waited for trophies.
My dad is classic rock…Pink Floyd is one of my favorites and if I had to pick a song it would be “Sorrow.” My mom is pop music all the way – but 80’s and 90’s not too much of today’s music.
This one speaks to me when I feel alone and I feel most alone when going through my migraines and when I found this song, I almost wept…finally someone gets me. I know that I have friends who suffer and my husband understands. But to see someone put this out there so publicly, I can even describe what it felt like. Twenty One Pilots –“Migraine”
Most of us have heard the saying, “That’s the best thing since sliced bread!” What do you think is actually the best thing since sliced bread?
Ode to a playground
A place from your past or childhood, one that you’re fond of, is destroyed. Write it a memorial.
We drove past my old Middle school not too long ago to get my husband’s VW bus. And I saw that they had the place boarded up and all closed off. I had heard at one time they were thinking of closing it down because the district is a mess and can’t maintain it’s budget. So sadly to is boarded all up and closed off. They can’t take away my memories, even though between my medication and migraines the memories of my youth slip away more and more it seems all the time.
